Root Canal Upland
Root canals are small passages that level off beneath the upper surface of the tooth, reaching vertically downward until they contact the root. All teeth have between one and four root canals.
Numerous tooth problems involve infections that affect the pulp, which is the internal chamber of the tooth containing blood vessels, nerves, and other tissues. A worsening infection can have a negative effect on the roots. A traumatic tooth injury can compromise the pulp and result in similar problems.
A diseased inner tooth can cause a host of problems that include pain and sensitivity. As an infection spreads, small pockets of pus will begin to develop, which will lead to abscess.
Root canal therapy has a high success rate. It involves removing diseased tissue to halt the spread of the infection and restore a healthy portion of teeth.
